Nakorn Si Thammarat City Accommodations

Nakorn Si Thammarat city is rather short of international standard hotels and accommodation. Of course, as there aren't that many tourists, there isn't a lot of demand for what rooms there are. Here's a very short list of the possibilities:

Twin Lotus Hotel

This 400-room resort is noted for its warmth and friendliness, offering an atmosphere of elegance combined with traditional southern Thai comfort. Guests are welcomed into the foyer by a 24-hour reception and check-out service, where they may avail themselves of use of the hotel safe, currency exchange facility, room and laundry services (the latter both for a fee). Other features of the hotel include kiosks for smaller goods, a bar, pub and disco, two restaurants and extensive conference facilities. Parking is available to guests arriving by car. The city hotel is located amidst elegantly-landscaped gardens and a mountain rice paddy field, and is perfectly positioned overlooking the historic city of Nakhon Si Thammarat. It is only 20 minutes away from Nakhon Si Thammarat airport, 10 minutes from the city centre and 5 minutes' walk from the Lotus department store.

Small but smart hotel near the modern city center. Its a short walk up Pak Nakorn Road to the main Ratchadamnoen Road where you can catch a songtaew to most of the city's sights. The Grand Park was adding a new wing which should be completed in 2004 and will double the hotels rooms.

The hotel goes a bit over the top in pursuit of the rustic look, but it does appear to be an interesting place, with a bare red brick building sited in a shady park. The hotel's restaurant is in a very old house next door.
